DRYCAD Solutions - Custom Services
Engineering solutions, built to spec.
When standard tools don't fit your process, we build what does. Workflow analysis, bespoke tooling, CAD integration, and technical training, delivered by engineers with almost 20 years of hands-on experience in demanding mechanical design environments, including Formula 1.
Why Custom Services
Not every workflow fits a template
Every engineering environment is different, different CAD configurations, different standards, different team structures. DRYCAD SUITE covers the majority of use cases out of the box. When it doesn't, our Custom Services team steps in.
We apply the same DRY methodology that powers our products to your specific problem: map the process, isolate the repetition, build the right tool. The result integrates into your existing environment, without disruption, without migration.
The DRY principle, Don't Repeat Yourself, applied not just to software, but to how you design.
What We Offer
Four service areas
Each engagement starts with a scoping call to map your workflow, identify the bottleneck, and define the right intervention. No generic deliverables, every output is built for your specific environment.
Custom Tool Development
Purpose-built tools designed around your exact workflow requirements. Depending on the problem, the solution may be a CAD-integrated plugin, an Excel or Office automation, a standalone application, or a combination of these, whatever fits the job best.
- CAD-integrated macros and plugins
- Excel and Microsoft Office tools for engineering calculations and reporting
- Standalone desktop applications for specific workflows
- Hybrid solutions combining CAD, Office, and standalone components
- Deliverable: tested, documented, deployable tool
Workflow Optimization
A structured analysis of your design workflow to identify inefficiencies, redundant steps, and non-standardized operations. We map the process, isolate the waste, and deliver a prioritized action plan.
- End-to-end CAD workflow mapping and bottleneck analysis
- Identification of automation opportunities
- Standards compliance review
- Deliverable: optimization report + implementation roadmap
Technical Training
Structured training programs built around your tools, your standards, and your team's skill gaps. Not generic CAD courses, targeted sessions that translate directly into productivity on your real projects.
- DRYCAD SUITE onboarding and advanced usage
- CAD automation and macro development workshops
- Standards application and best practices
- Deliverable: session materials + reference documentation
CAD Environment Integration
Deep integration of DRYCAD tooling with your existing PLM, PDM, or enterprise workflows. We handle configuration, testing, and deployment so your engineering environment operates as a single coherent system.
- DRYCAD SUITE integration with PLM / PDM environments
- Custom CommandBar configuration and team deployment
- Multi-user rollout and access control setup
- Deliverable: configured, production-ready environment
Delivery Formats
The right tool for the right problem
Custom solutions are not always CAD plugins. Depending on the problem, the right answer may live inside Excel, run as a standalone application, or combine multiple environments. We choose the format that fits, not the one that's easiest to build.
CAD-Integrated
Macros, plugins, and automations that run directly inside your CAD environment, no switching, no export.
CATIA V5 / 3DX
Excel & Office
Calculation tools, structured reports, and process automations built on the Microsoft Office stack your team already uses.
Excel · Word · Outlook
Standalone Apps
Purpose-built desktop applications for workflows that need a dedicated interface, independent of CAD or Office.
Windows desktop
Hybrid Solutions
Complex problems often require multiple components working together, a CAD plugin feeding an Excel model, a standalone tool updating the CAD geometry.

Engagement Model
How a project runs
Every custom engagement follows a structured four-step process, from initial scoping to final deployment. No ambiguity, no scope creep.
Scoping Call
We map your current workflow, define the problem precisely, and confirm whether a custom engagement is the right solution, or whether DRYCAD SUITE already covers it.
Proposal & Spec
A written technical specification outlines the deliverable, timeline, and acceptance criteria. No work begins without a signed-off spec.
Development & Review
We build, test, and iterate, with checkpoints at each milestone. You validate against your real environment before final delivery.
Deployment & Handoff
Full deployment, complete documentation, and a knowledge-transfer session for your team. You own everything, code, docs, and the process.
Case Studies
Problems solved in the field
Real engagements, real outcomes. Details are anonymized at client request.
Test Machine Setup - Kinematic Configuration via CAD-Integrated Solver
Challenge
Define the configuration of a testing machine based on multiple adjustable parameters, with the goal of matching a specific target load diagram. The problem involved complex kinematics and a large parameter space, impractical to resolve manually.
Solution
The machine kinematics were modelled and calculated in Microsoft Excel, with all adjustable parameters exposed as variables. Excel Solver was used to find the optimal configuration against the target load diagram. Once the best configuration was identified, the geometry was transferred directly into the CAD model to update component positions automatically.
Result
A task that previously required several days to complete was reduced to a few hours. The time recovered was redirected to updating models and drawings, a significant improvement in both efficiency and output quality.

Release Management - Automated Notification and Review Workflow for Project Leaders
Challenge
The company struggled to keep project leaders informed about new component releases across different contexts. Updates were fragmented, oversight was inconsistent, and there was no standardized method for communicating what had changed and what required review.
Solution
A tool was developed to scan the 3D product structure, identify newly released components, and automatically generate a structured Microsoft Excel report. This report was distributed to the project leader and a defined distribution list via email. The spreadsheet allowed the project leader to open 3D parts and drawings directly in the CAD platform, add comments, and approve or flag each release, without leaving a familiar interface.
Result
Designers gained a standardized, repeatable method for communicating new releases. Project leaders gained a consolidated view of all pending reviews, independent of context, leading to measurably improved oversight and faster release cycles.

Why DRYCAD Solutions
What sets a custom engagement apart
Custom tooling is only useful if it integrates cleanly, performs reliably, and your team can actually use it. These are the principles every engagement is built on.
Built on real engineering experience
Almost 20 years of hands-on experience in demanding mechanical design environments, including Formula 1. Every solution draws on practice, not theory.
No migration, no disruption
Every deliverable integrates into your existing environment, CAD, Office, or otherwise. We extend what you already have, we don't ask you to rebuild it.
Full ownership of deliverables
Source code, documentation, and process specs are transferred to you at project close. No ongoing dependency on DRYCAD unless you want it.
Structured from day one
Written technical spec before any work begins. Milestone-based reviews. Acceptance criteria defined upfront. No scope creep, no surprises.
