Propagate 2D Curve Selection
Extend a single picked curve into the full chain of connected lines and curves in a Drawing view, within a tolerance you control.
Custom-generated geometry rarely arrives as one clean shape, it’s a chain of individual lines, arcs, and splines that happen to touch end to end. Selecting all of it by hand, one segment at a time, gets old fast, especially when the chain runs around a whole profile. Propagate 2D Curve Selection picks up where your first click leaves off, following every connected segment automatically.
What it does
- Extends one selection into many, pick a single line or curve, and every curve joined to it end-to-end is added to the selection automatically.
- Follows the whole chain, the propagation keeps walking from segment to segment, not just the immediate neighbors, so a long connected profile is captured in one pass.
- Respects a configurable tolerance, you decide how close two endpoints need to be to count as connected, so near-misses from imported or reconstructed geometry are handled the way your data actually looks.
- Works across curve types, lines, circles, ellipses, hyperbolas, parabolas, and splines are all recognized as part of the same chain.
How It Works
Select any curve within the drawing view and launch the command. The tool automatically analyzes the endpoints of adjacent geometric entities and expands the selection by following the chain of connected elements. Propagation continues until no additional entities are found within the specified tolerance.
Where it fits
Included from the Starter plan up, so it’s available whatever plan you’re on. It earns its keep anywhere a Drawing is built from many short, connected segments rather than a handful of long ones, the more fragmented the geometry, the more clicks it saves.
